Technical Information
Water repellent without PFC
The fabric of this jacket is water repellent: it lets water slide over its surface without seeping in. In this way, the fabric doesn’t soak up water and stays light and breathable. The water-repellent property is achieved by treating the fabric’s exterior: It doesn’t use fluoride compounds
Waterproofing of the component of this jacket
The waterproofing of a fabric by a coating or a membrane is measured in Schmerbers or H2O mm (pressure of a water column). The higher this number, the more waterproof the fabric. This jacket is designed with a waterproof coating (JIS 1092 standard): this component resists 5,000mm H2O (Schmerbers) before washing (equivalent to the pressure exerted by a 5m column of water).
Performance of your jacket
To maintain a water-repellent fabric, we recommend reactivating it regularly. Do this every three washes (it is important to rinse abundantly) or after a dozen uses in the rain. You can easily reactivate the water repellent property by warming the fabric: – in a tumble dryer for 15 minutes (synthetic program) – with a hairdryer at a distance of 20cm by going back and forth twice – or two passes with an iron on the delicate setting without the steam function.
Fabric breathability
The fabric of this jacket is breathable: RET = 12. Component breathability is measured by its thermal evaporative resistance (RET). This is its capacity to let water vapour generated by the body during physical activity escape and therefore avoid water accumulating on the skin. The lower the RET, the more breathable the fabric. RET ≤ 6: very breathable fabric RET ≤ 12: breathable fabric RET ≤ 20: little or no breathability
