After a hearty meal, we gathered for the event briefing, where our experienced instructors from Adventure LK explained the day’s itinerary, safety measures, and what to expect. Everyone was eager to learn the techniques and prepare for the adrenaline rush of the 650 ft abseiling descent.
Stretching exercises followed, as the team made sure they were ready physically and mentally for the challenge ahead. The energy in the air was contagious, and the sense of camaraderie among the group was already forming.
The hike to the top of Babarakanda Waterfall was a scenic yet challenging trek. As we ascended, the sounds of the waterfall grew louder, and the mist from the cascading water cooled us down. The path took us through lush greenery, where towering trees and vibrant plants formed a beautiful backdrop to our ascent. Along the way, we shared stories, encouraged each other, and marveled at the natural beauty surrounding us.

One of the most memorable parts of the day was the chance to take a dip in the natural pool at the base of Babarakanda Falls. The water was cool and refreshing, and swimming near the falls, with the cascade of water roaring above us, was an experience we’ll never forget.
After our swim, we enjoyed a delicious lunch provided by Adventure LK. The meal was just what we needed after a morning of adventure. Fresh, hearty, and satisfying, it gave us the energy to finish the day strong.
As the day drew to a close, we began our descent back down to the bottom of the waterfall. The journey down was quicker, but just as beautiful, with the mist from the falls providing a refreshing breeze. Upon reaching the bottom, we were treated to coffee and snacks, a perfect way to wind down after such an intense and fulfilling adventure.
With our spirits high and our bodies filled with the adrenaline from the day’s activities, we boarded the vehicle to head back to Colombo. The 5-hour journey back was filled with laughter, stories of our experiences, and the shared bond of a day well spent. We arrived in Colombo around 11:00 PM, tired but fulfilled, knowing that we had just experienced something extraordinary.
